Into Sol Sanctum!

The door from Milliways opens into a small room, fairly plain except for a statue at the opposite end. The walls and ceiling are made from a bluish stone, while the floor is brown and speckled with some kind of glowing lichen. The light is bright enough to see fine, although you wouldn't want to read by it.
The room's one significant feature is a statue, about eight feet tall, depicting what appears to be a man with a lion's head, holding a sword with the point between his feet. It stands against the far wall.
Once the group is through, Felix gestures around. "This is the room where I think the door is. At this point, our best bet would probably be to close our eyes and feel along the walls for either an opening or some kind of button." He pauses, then adds, "The statue won't move for my magic, so it might well be hiding the door itself."

He does have to backtrack a few times, but he's definitely making progress.

"Will they continue t'move against us after we've got our hands on 'em? Or do y'think we can control how they move then?"

Date: 2011-12-08 12:11 am (UTC)Felix is a bit distracted at the moment, having maneuvered himself into a tricky dead end. He's kind of glad he can just watch the block, rather than worrying about stepping into his own pit.

She smirks at the fellas, and then sets her jaw. Move the blocks without touching them, right. That certainly changes things.
She figures out how to get her block away from the pit, and then starts moving. Slow and steady wins the race, right? She takes her time, careful not to get in anyone else's way, and eventually has her block near one of the buttons.

Assuming they can't walk three abreast.

Date: 2011-12-29 03:34 am (UTC)They probably could walk three abreast, if they were willing to get quite cozy. But it wouldn't be comfortable.

Not that she'd mind going first, but it makes sense for Felix to lead. She'll keep close as he does.

Is anybody home?

Date: 2012-01-10 10:57 pm (UTC)After a few more feet, another pair of braziers lights up. The glint doesn't get any clearer, though. This continues for a few more repetitions, until several braziers light all at once ahead of them, revealing -

The figure springs forward, swinging its sword in a wide arc.

Date: 2012-01-21 04:24 am (UTC)She takes a quick step back, careful not to get in Varric's way. Her gun is trained on the headless creature, free hand hovering over her Bowie knife. She doesn't shoot just yet — no sense wasting ammunition until she knows where its weaknesses are.
If it has any.
"That's one helluva Shadow!"

Date: 2012-01-22 04:56 am (UTC)Of course, you also have to get in close to use it. But Felix can be quick under certain circumstances. Like when there's a small glowing spiky thing guiding his sword down, and then smashing back up.
(The result is fairly pitiful, little more than a scratch on the Dullahan's armor. But it's a start.)
The armor raises its sword again, but not to strike. Instead it gestures, and purple smoke swirls around the group. Vague faces appear and disappear in the smoke, but make no hostile move. The smoke clears in time to see another gesture, which causes a small swirl of lights around Felix that quickly sink under his skin.

Date: 2012-01-23 04:27 am (UTC)Kate has produced another sixshooter from the small of her back. This one follows the ghost-like faces, so that her aim doesn't stray from the Dullahan. She isn't willing to leave herself open, not on any front.
To be honest, part of her feels the best weapon in this place would be a bucket of holy water and a cross or two. Once she sees the lights sinking into Felix's skin, however, she throws caution to the wind. She aims for any gaps in the suit of armor—elbows, knees, and that gaping maw where there should be a head—and lets loose with a quick volley.
